There's a change on the horizon for muscle cars, with the advent of technology, it has become a lot easier to squeeze power out of an engine, I'm one of the old school guys, you know, the one's who are supposed to hate the new way of doing things, but I don't, you hear the old boys all the time telling you, technology has no place in a car, and that used to be me to, but I've seen what is possible, and how easy it can make things, and I love it.With the way a computer can tune your timing, fuel delivery, and the other major functions that would have had to of been done by hand in the old days, it's plain to see that there really is a need for technology in cars, I've seen it, with just simple computer adjustments you can squeeze fro 50 to 100 hp out of a computer tuned engine in your muscle car, and even more if that car came from the factory with a supercharger on it, just a simple pulley change can yield another 40 to 50 hp.In the old days we'd spend days trying to squeeze this much more power out of a muscle car, we'd do valve jobs, and camshaft upgrades, don't get me wrong here, heads and a camshaft upgrade are still the most reliable power upgrade that you can do on your car, but with the newer cars, it's better to try to use that technology to get your power first, and when you run out those tricks, go to the head and camshaft upgrade for your car, but make 100% sure that the mods that you do won't cause any problems with your computer or how it functions.We have a lot more options these days, and that's a very good thing, in the old days we didn't have that many options, it was usually a trip to the local machine shop if you wanted the best results, but now days the technology has helped put an end to this, the new crate engines are a part of the new technology, and the new way of doing things, you can buy a factory crate engine with 720 hp right from the Chevrolet parts counter, and you can buy a high performance crate engine for your Ford dealer, or your Mopar parts connection, and these are cheaper then having your machine shop build an engine for you.I've been in the automotive business for about 20 or 25 years, I have worked in all facets of the industry, from parts to restoration, all different makes and models, I just want to keep people interested in the old cars because it's where my heart is.
